Variables and Patterns unit - focus on the relationship between variables by creating and analyzing graphs, tables and equations
Monday - EQ (essential question): what is mental math? start class with openers using clickers, hand out Variables and Patterns unit books, introduce the unit by discussing the "power in patterns", no homework tonight
Tuesday - EQ: what can be found in a pattern of numbers/data?, students work in groups of four to gather two sets of jumping jack data, discussion of any surprises/observations from the data, homework for tonight is #1 page 15
Wednesday - EQ: how do you put two sets of data on one graph?, review homework, graph jumping jack data with group in comp books, discuss patterns and parts of a graph, introduce the word wall, homework for tonight is # 3 - 4 page 16 - 17
Thursday - EQ: what information does a coordinate pair give?, review homework and make homework bundles to turn in, start problem 1.3 p 10, no homework tonight
Friday - EQ: how can you see the relationship between variables on a graph?, hand back and discuss homework bundles, finish problem 1.3, no homework tonight
