Work for week of September 21 - 25

Math Block Two [Variables and Patterns]

Monday - homework bundles handed back with feedback, Variables and Patterns test review game, students work in small groups to solve problems, each student IS ENCOURAGED to write these sample problems down in their comp book to study from for the test TOMORROW, homework is study for the test
Tuesday - Variables and Patterns unit test
Wednesday - test back with debrief, turn in books and get books for new unit called Stretching and Shrinking, discussion of requirements for math portfolio including choice of evidence and written reflection
Thursday/Friday - conferences therefore no math class

RoShamBo - Integrated [earth science]

Monday - earth, moon, sun quizzes handed back with feedback/discussion, check in on MOON JOURNALS and clarify requirements, [students made their MOON JOURNALS last week and the requirement sheet should be stapled in the back, students should be observing the night sky each night and focusing on the phase of the moon, if the moon is rising too late or is not visible, students can be resourceful about finding out what the phase is each night, students should check the requirement sheet often to make sure they are on track and we will be checking progress in class, this is a great opportunity for students to have night sky reflection time and solidify some of the things we have learned in class], take notes in science journal on the scientific method using our dry ice experiments from last week as examples, start AIR STUFF STATIONS, work in small groups, make predictions and answer questions from each station in science journal
Tuesday - "ruler trick" demonstration to focus on how strong air pressure is, students take notes, discuss and a LAB REPORT ON THIS DEMO IS DUE TOMORROW, continue AIR STUFF STATIONS, gather as a large group for air pressure notes
Wednesday - "collapsing can" demonstration, students will do a LAB REPORT ON THE COLLAPSING CAN WHICH IS DUE MONDAY, finish AIR STUFF STATIONS, gather as a large group for notes on the rules of air pressure
Thursday/Friday - conferences therefore no Integrated class
