Work for week of September 28 - October 2

Math Block Two [new unit - Stretching and Shrinking: focus on scale factor and mathematical similarity]

Monday: start class with openers, introduce concepts for new unit, start drawing "wumps" - figures drawn on coordinate grid, homework is to complete all "wumps" in comp book AND BRING COMPLETED WORK IN COMP BOOK BACK TO CLASS TOMORROW
Tuesday: share and analyze "wumps", notes on new vocabulary and focus on concept of mathematical similarity, no homework tonight
Wed - Friday: FALL TRIP!! therefore no math class

RoShamBo 3.0 - Integrated [earth science]

Monday: check on MOON JOURNAL PROGRESS [students should be observing night sky, writing in moon journal, and checking requirements each night for at least 20 minutes], return "ruler trick" lab reports - comments on how students did with each section, collect "collapsing can" lab reports, demonstrations on weather concepts including relative humidity and dew point, use beakers, colored water, and the "magic sponge" to show connections between concepts, students take notes and volunteer to help with various demonstrations - good possibility of getting wet! HOMEWORK IS TO (1) MAKE UP ANY MISSING LAB REPORTS [RULER OR CAN], (2) MOON JOURNAL, (3) STUDY NOTES FOR AIR STUFF QUIZ TOMORROW
Tuesday: air stuff quiz using clickers, learn how to measure dew point and relative humidity - practice inside and outside with a partner, HOMEWORK IS TO KEEP UP WITH MOON JOURNAL DURING FALL TRIP AND WEEKEND
Wed - Friday: FALL TRIP!! therefore no RoShamBo, but we will still experience the weather we are learning about!
