Math Block One [Stretching and Shrinking, focus on scale factor]

Monday: start class with openers, review definition/concept of rep-tiles (repeating tiles), create data to record information about scale factor, perimeter, and area of various shapes, homework tonight is # 1, 4 - 7 p 44 - 47
Tuesday: review homework, share rep-tile discoveries, start problem 3.3 with focus on relationship between scale factor, perimeter and area, homework tonight is # 19 - 21, 25 p 49 - 51
Wednesday: no math class due to ADI #2
Thursday: review homework, make/turn in homework bundles, finish and share problem 3.3, no homework tonight
Friday: homework bundles handed back with comments, start Amazing Ever Changing Grid Figure Project, start making possible grid figures in comp book, no homework tonight

Monday: go outside for weather watch, share data including weekend data from volunteers, clarify "juicy" question (LTP) approval process, hand back CLOUD LABS with comments/feedback, set up and run the SOIL VERSUS WATER LAB, IMPORTANT - MOON JOURNAL DUE WEDNESDAY, SOIL/WATER LAB REPORT DUE THURSDAY
Tuesday: remember - ADI tomorrow, bring lunch and science journal, clarify SOIL/WATER LAB QUESTIONS, go outside for weather watch and share data, start learning about air masses and weather watch - students take notes, and volunteers help with demonstrations, MOON JOURNAL DUE TOMORROW, SOIL/WATER LAB REPORT DUE THURSDAY
Wednesday: ADI #2 (wahoo), bus picks us up at 9:30am, start at NOAA with a tour and SCIENCE ON A SPHERE from 10 - 12pm, head over to NCAR, eat lunch outside, do activities and tour from 1 - 3pm, return to school at end of the day (in time for buses), try to squeeze in weather watch back at school AND collect MOON JOURNALS
Thursday: go outside for weather watch, collect SOIL/WATER LAB REPORTS, reminder - tomorrow is first LTP research time in the library, bring any necessary materials, finish air masses and weather fronts notes plus skits!
Friday: go outside for final weather watch, debrief as a group, analyze overall patterns, discuss any relevant observations, head to library/computer lab for research time on LTP, students should have started research on the answer(s) to their approved "juicy" question.
