Monday: start class with openers, announce - UNIT TEST COMING UP NEXT TUESDAY 11/3], start problem 4.3 with a focus on finding missing measurements using scale factor, homework tonight is # 9 - 12 p 68 - 69
Tuesday: review homework, finish and share problem 4.3, homework tonight is # 5 - 8 p 68
Wednesday: review homework and make bundles, explore concept of similar triangles found in "real" life, homework is to work on grid figure project which is DUE FRIDAY
Thursday: DCPA therefore no math class, but students must finish their grid figure projects which are DUE TOMORROW
Friday: homework bundles handed back with comments, students present their grid figure projects

Monday - Friday: This week is completely focused on research time in the library for the NATURAL HAZARDS CAFE group project (see below). Students will be working together to gather information, make a power point, build a working model and plan their presentation. The NATURAL HAZARDS CAFE will be held next MONDAY AND TUESDAY with all presentations being shared by groups and the audience taking notes. HOMEWORK is to work on the "real data" section of their Juicy Questions LTP (see "projects" on this website for more details). The "real data" is DUE FRIDAY.

3 cups Power Point showing recipe book for the natural hazard
2 cups working model that demonstrates how your natural hazard works
4 cups cooking show which is the creative format for sharing your information with the class – cooking time 10 minutes
Recipe Book Requirements
1. List of ingredients
a. List everything that has to be present for your natural hazard to occur.
2. Step by Step directions for cooking your natural hazard
a. Use graphics and key ideas to explain how different elements combine. This is where you explain each process that happens in order for this natural hazard to occur. Cards on your power point should be visually organized and easy to read the information… no paragraphs! NO CUT AND PASTE!!!
3. Recipe variations
a. Describe at least one actual event (where it happened, when, who was affected, damage, clean-up… Was it predicted?...)
b. Explain emergency procedures that you must follow during this natural disaster.
Working Model Requirements – your model must be a visual representation that actually brings the natural hazard into the room for the audience to experience. It is some sort of working model that allows us to see the natural hazard in action.
Cooking Show Requirements
1. Every chef has a specific part in the presentation
2. Cooking show format is used in a creative way
3. All information from the power point is included clearly and accurately
4. The working model is demonstrated
5. The presentation is accurate and entertaining and designed so that the audience will have a solid understanding of the inner workings of the natural hazard
