Hello!

I am an ESL teacher at Arapahoe Ridge High School.  I’ve been teaching here for three years and I love teaching English to new and continuing students.  Newcomers are always welcome in my class!

I’ve been teaching for twenty-five years, mostly around the world.  I lived in Africa and Asia and in Eastern Europe.  I lived in Dakar and worked in the Peace Corps in Senegal where I learned to speak French.   Then  I worked for a large corporation in Tokyo, Japan  for three years and I can still speak a little Japanese

I also loved living in Bucharest, Romania, where I worked for the Ministry of Education. I worked with EFL teachers there to help them teach English to students in Romanian Economic High Schools.

I’ve also taught in many colleges and universities including Front Range Community College, White Pines College, Colorado State University, L’Universite de Cheikh Anta Diop, Boston University and at Harvard but now I love teaching high school.

My favorite hobbies are  traveling and writing.  I’ve traveled all over the world  (I’ve gone around twice!)  and  I’ve published lots of articles in an international Arts and Entertainment magazine about living in Japan.  My short-fiction won a national prize a few years ago.  I still love to travel and write about it when I have time—usually during the summer.  I went to Iran two summers ago with my husband and wrote a great story about that visit.  I went on a cruise to Alaska last year and I am going to France to hike in the Alps this coming summer.

I look forward to meeting you this year!
