Welcome!
I will be one of your science/health teachers. I am excited about getting to know each
of you individually; but first, let me tell you a little about myself.
I came to
Boulder
from deep in the heart of
Texas! I
grew up in
Brownsville
, which is less than a stone's throw from the
border of
Mexico.
I spent much of my childhood out on the water with my father, who was a
commercial shrimper for Bubba's Shrimp House. When I
wasn't on a boat, I was in the kitchen watching my grandmother, a pastry chef,
create pie sensations.
Education has always been a part of my life. I have either been in school, or
teaching school, for the past 45+ years. I started my post high school
education at Texas Woman's University, earning a bachelors degree in biology
and chemistry. Shortly thereafter, I obtained a Masters Degree in Education at
the
University
of
Houston
. Then in the
mid-80's, I completed a Masters in Theology, at Oblate School of
Theology in
San Antonio.
During this time, I was a Sister of Divine Providence.
Science has always been my passion. I am now in my tenth year at Arapahoe
Ridge. When I am not cooking up something in the science lab with my students,
I am at home cooking up something in my kitchen. Oh, did I mention that I also
have an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Culinary Arts from the Art
Institute of Colorado? My other hobbies are my two cats, Nicholas and Gremlin,
and poking around in my herb garden.
