Information about Kindergarten
The Kindergarten program at Aspen Creek K-8 offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum that is based on the BVSD standards.  The Kindergarten teachers strive to achieve success and excellence in learning for all students. A strong literacy program as well as a hands-on, investigative math approach with the support of extra staff, parents, and community help, encourages and supports varying learning styles and abilities of students. In addition,  time for creativity and play  is considered an essential component of the Kindergarten day.  All children are valued as unique and special members of our learning community and are provided a safe and caring environment in which to learn and grow. K-CARE recognizes that play is the primary learning medium of childhood.  K-CARE offers age appropriate, appealing, and challenging activities to support the growth and development of the whole child.  K-CARE provides high quality, developmentally appropriate, licensed, on site childcare in a safe, nurturing environment.  K-CARE includes a balance of structured and unstructured projects.  Qualified staff provide a student centered early childhood program with a 1-to-15 teacher/child ratio.
       
Judy Stone:
My name is Judy Stone and I just moved to Colorado from Massachusetts in 2005.  I received my undergraduate degree from Fitchburg State collage and my graduate degree from Boston Collage.  I started  my teaching career as a special education  teacher specializing in teaching students with autism and also children with severe dyslexia.  I enjoyed working with such children for thirteen years.  I then moved to a kindergarten position once I had a family and have enjoyed teaching young children for the past eight years.  I live in Louisville with my husband, four children, four cats, and two dogs.  We love to hike, ski, ride bikes, and play outside.  We also love to travel and go back east every year to swim in the cold ocean water and visit my family.
Jean Witt:
Jean Witt has been teaching Kindergarten at Aspen Creek K-8 since the building opened.  She also taught 3rd grade in Illinois for 9 years.  She has both a BS degree and a Master's degree in Elementary Education.
