In second grade, students continue their growth as learners.  The second grade students begin every morning by playing recorders, writing morning news, and becoming more aware of the larger world around them.

A balanced literacy format includes time for students to read, write, and share their ideas with classmates on a daily basis.  Math works on helping students develop strong conceptual skills that build the foundation for mathematical thinking.

In second grade, the main studies are again delivered through an integrated approach and include Ancient Asia, Egypt, heroes and heroines from around the world, insects, air and weather, and states of matter.
