INTEGRATED NEWS April 28, 2006 COME CELEBRATE BCSIS'S 10TH ANNIVERSARY! BCSIS is 10 years old this year. It's time to celebrate! We'll toast to the school (with natural sodas) during a birthday bash on Thursday, May 11, from 4:30 to 7:30 in the school cafeteria, gym and open space. (Please note that the location has changed; the event is no longer being held at the Rocky Mountain Theater for Kids.) All BCSIS families are invited to this festive event, which will include a burrito bar, live marimba music by Shamwari and Tamba, and face painting. It's a party you don't want to miss! The party committee has been working all year to pull this bash together, but we could still use some help. If you could help with decorating and set-up, face painting, supervising food service or clean-up after the event, we'd sure love to have you! In addition, we're still in need of decorative items to dress up our school in full party mode. We're looking for: * Colorful tablecloths and fabric * Table lamps and lanterns * Strings of Christmas lights * Flowers * Beads Please mark all items with your name so we can return them to you. If you can help, please contact Robyn Lawrence at 303-494-6589 or e-mail robynlawrence@mindspring.com. In keeping the excellent example our kids have set, this will be a waste-free event. We're looking forward to seeing everyone there! MAY ED COUNCIL MEETING An Ed Council Meeting will be held May 10 from 4 - 5:30pm in the library. As always, all parents are invited to attend. We have to officially vote in next year’s Ed Council members along with lots of updates and discussion. One of our goals is to create places for more parent discussion (instead of just hearing reports and changes), and the main topic will be integrating the new ELL program. THE BCSIS BROWN BAG BOOK CLUB Our last book club meeting will take place on May 5th at 12-1:30pm in the conference room or outside. We are celebrating our very own parent author, Anna Stewart, whose book, Mother Blessings, has been published recently. The book can be purchased for $19, $5 of which will be donated to BCSIS, thanks to Anna. Also, Kimberly Zerbey is looking for someone to take over organization of the book club for the next school year. If you are looking for a way to get more involved, this is a great and fun way to do just that. Contact Kimberly at 303-530-0627. NEWS AND NOTES Open Position: Chair for the Friends Committee Have you ever wanted to be appreciated by hundreds of people? Do you have hibernating leadership skills? Is community involvement a value you hold? BCSIS needs a Chair (or Co-Chairs) for the Friends Committee next year. "Friends" is the fundraising arm for BCSIS. It has been a pleasure for me to fulfill this role for the past several years. With next year being my son’s last, I feel it is time to pass the torch and focus on some different areas. If you are reading this and thinking "maybe," please give me a call. The school needs BRAVE parents willing to take positions of leadership. It will connect you in positive ways you cannot yet imagine. Planning for the 2006-07 school year will take place in May. - Kim Green, 303-443-6785 at home, or 720-220-6785 cell. Bolder Boulder If you are planning to participate in the Bolder Boulder this year, select wave "MM" which has a starting time of 8:39:00am and we can all run/walk it together. You can register online at Bolderboulder.com or you can register in person at two Bolder Boulder stores: 1) 3105 28th St in Boulder (across from the Puddle Car Wash) and 2) in Flatirons Crossing on the upper level between Nordstom’s and the food court. Also, when you finish and have collected your snack bag, head to Section 205 in Folsom Field to find each other again. Keep training! MORE NEWS AND NOTES Plant Sale Winners Announced!
