About The BHS Library...

Hours
The BHS Library is currently open from 7:15 to 3:45 every school day. Students are welcome to use the the BHS Library at all times for study or research, including lunch period. The Library is here for student use; it is a place to read, research, and reflect.

Student Expectations (as established by a forum of students, teachers, administrators and the Media Specialist in April 2001)
• The Library is a place for academic work.
• The Library is not a place for social gatherings or entertainment.

Examples:

  • a small study group working together is acceptable (emphasis on study).
  • a student checking his/her email is acceptable--however, students needing to use the computers for research take priority.
  • playing games (computer-based or otherwise) is not acceptable.

• The Individual Study Area is intended for individual study--no groups.
• The level of noise in any area of the Library should not be disruptive.
• Food or drink are not allowed in the Library.
• Students are asked to treat the Library, its staff, and other students with respect.

Any student who does not comply with the above rules will be subject to the following consequences:

1st offense:
The student will be given a warning and a record will be kept of the incident.
2nd offense:
The student will be asked to leave the Library for the rest of the day.
3rd offense:
The student will be referred to an administrator for further disciplinary action.

Computer use
All computers in the BHS Library are for school related use only.
Use of computers in BHS is restricted by the BVSD Acceptable Use Policies.

Materials
A BHS student ID is needed to check out any item from the BHS Library, unless the student's picture is on record in our computer system. There is no limit to the number of materials a student can check out. A book must be brought in to be renewed. Students must pay for the replacement of lost materials.

Although there are no fines for overdue materials, students with overdue materials will be unable to:

• receive next year's student ID
• receive a cap and gown at graduation
