AP Music Theory

AP Music Theory is a course for ambitious and gifted music students whose goals include continuing their studies in music, planning to pursue careers in music, or expanding their knowledge and appreciation of music. The course will provide an opportunity for high school students to take college level music theory and will better prepare students to continue their studies in music.

AP Music Theory will develop a student's ability to recognize, understand, and describe the basic materials and processes of music that are heard or presented in a score. Many colleges will grant college credit if a student earns a sufficient score on the Advanced Placement Test given in the spring.

AP Music Theory is open to all students at Boulder High School for 5 credits per semester. It is offered as a 2 semester sequence class. Note: Students interested in taking this course should see Dr. Horst for an interview.
