Concert Band and Wind Ensemble are classes, which meet during the school day in the fall and spring semesters. Each are performing ensembles and perform for school concerts, competitions and graduation.

The dress code for performances for both groups is black and white dress clothes. Shoes should be black dress shoes with dark socks.

Concert Band is open to all students who play a musical instrument. Wind Ensemble requires an audition. Middle school directors will be contacted with information concerning these auditions. However, if you are unsure about the audition times and places or have any questions, please contact Dr. Horst. The audition consists of playing major and minor scales, sight-reading, and performing a piece of the student's choice that showcases his or her talents.

All students interested in Concert Band or Wind Ensemble should enroll in Concert Band. Students will be placed into the correct ensemble once auditions have been finalized.

Parents are always needed to chaperone for competitions and trips, to help with the music library and at concerts.

The Wind Ensemble and Concert Band perform in September for "Music Showcase," in concerts in December and May; contest in April and for graduation in the spring. As the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band are performing ensembles, missing any of these performances will result in the lowering of a student's grade.
