Vocal Ensemble is a course that offers students an opportunity
to prepare solo and small ensemble literature. The
class will be conducted in a studio situation with individual
assistance available. Literature will range from Art Songs
and arias to jazz, show, and pop tunes. Performances will
be help in a studio situation.
CHOIR (Aria)

Choir is a vocal ensemble designed to introduce singers to
choral ensembles at the high school level. A wide variety of
vocal techniques will be presented and utilized. Culminating
performances are a meaningful and mandatory
component of this class.
CONCERT CHOIR
Prerequisites: None
Concert Choir elaborates on concepts and techniques
explored in Choir. A wide variety of vocal techniques will be
presented and utilized. Culminating performances are a
meaningful and mandatory component of this class.
FESTIVAL CHOIR (Madrigals)
Audition is required for this choir.
Select "Concert Choir" on your course selection form, and then contact Mrs. Kullman for an audition.
Festival Choir is a more advanced ensemble focusing on
more difficult choral works. Emphasis will be placed on
developing more advanced musicianship and professionalism.
A wide variety of advanced vocal and choral techniques
will be explored in-depth. Culminating performances
are a meaningful and mandatory component of
this class.
JAZZ CHOIR (High Altitude)
Audition is required for this choir.
Select "Concert Choir" on your course selection form, and then contact Mrs. Kullman for an audition.
Jazz Choir introduces the styles of jazz and contemporary
singing to the more advanced singer. Basic fundamentals
of the jazz style will be introduced. Musical emphasis is
placed on performance skills, group responsibility, and
vocal improvisation. Participation in performances is
required.

Extra Performances:
Extra performance opportunities abound in and around BHS. Watch bulletin boards in the classroom and listen closely to announcements. Extra performance opportunities include All-State Choir auditions (coming up in October for juniors and seniors!), and Concerto Competition (October!), the talent show (auditions, November), solo and ensemble spots within concerts, the spring musical, and various other performances and competitions throughout the year.
Fundraisers:
Fundraisers are essential to the success of this program. The district provides a tiny percentage of the funds we need to provide you with the experience you deserve. You will be asked to help the choir department raise funds for your music, uniforms, festivals, buses, etc., etc., etc. Donations are always, ALWAYS accepted.
