Student Testimonials:

This is my first year in AVID at BHS and my third year total (I was in AVID for 2 years at Casey Middle School ). AVID is unique; it is a family at school that helps me achieve my highest potential. AVID has helped me learn organizational methods and study techniques. Last year without AVID, I was able to implement the skills I had learned but I wasn't able to receive the help that I needed in my AP classes. Because I couldn't get the same help, my grades dropped. So this year I looked into AVID again when I heard BHS was going to introduce it. Now I can get the help and support I need while helping other students with things that they're having trouble with. AVID is a great program which helps with success and I strongly recommend joining the program if you want to go to college but are having trouble in school.
—Kevin Moore

AVID is all about the community, we meet together, make friends and learn strategies that will help us reach our goals. Like the title of the class suggests, its all about self determination and perseverance. This class is all about getting us into college, but most of all to teach us how to be involved in the things we do. I think AVID is a very helpful resource that when used correctly can help us through an obstacle. This is what it means to be in AVID and it's what I strive to achieve.
—Galen Moore

The reason I want to be in AVID is because it is a great opportunity which helps me with current classes and with college in the future.
—Ramiro Portillo

Parent Testimonials:

Not only is AVID one of my son's favorite classes this semester, but AVID has helped him become a more organized student, enabled him to plan his study time more effectively-particularly with long-term assignments and tests, and has taught him how to achieve good study habits. The tutorials have proven very helpful. Laura Jordan is an inspiring, genuine, and entertaining teacher.
