To the Parents of the 2007-2008 Boulder High School Link Leaders,

First congratulations on your son or daughter's acceptance into the Link Crew program. Links has made a huge, positive impact on the climate at Boulder High School and has helped hundreds of incoming students make the transition to high school.

This year we will be training the Link Leaders at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park. In the past, we have conducted this training at Boulder High School, but this has caused some scheduling problems, especially with fall sports programs. We also feel the students will receive better and more meaningful experience by training in an environment that is away from any distractions.

We received some grant money to fund this but, mostly because of transportation costs (we will be traveling to and from Estes Park via school bus), we are asking each student to contribute $20 toward the training expenses. Financial aid is available for any student needing help with this. We will have approximately one chaperone for every 10 students and 6 faculty members (Link Coordinators).

The tentative schedule for the training:

August 12, 2007
10:00 A.M. Load busses at Boulder High School and leave for Estes Park YMCA of the Rockies
Students should pack a lunch and snacks. First meal at Estes will be the evening meal.
11:30 A.M. Arrive at Estes Park YMCA of the Rockies. Unload busses and check into rooms.
12:30 P.M. - 4:30 P.M. First training session
4:30 P.M. Free time
5:30 P.M. Dinner
6:30 P.M. Social and bonding activities
August 13, 2007
7:30 A.M. Breakfast
8:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. Second training session
12:00 P.M. Lunch
12:30 P.M. Load busses and return to Boulder High School (approximately 2: 30 P.M.)
