Groundbreaking
Students removed about 80 tons of sod to create the path that was later filled with "crusher fines."
Broomfield High School Band members volunteered to shovel sod on Saturdays
Adults as well as students dug sod on Saturdays.
Parents provided refreshments for workers on Saturdays.
A "gneiss" rock (one of many large rocks) was delivered on site.
A tool called a "screed" (foreground) was used to keep the width of the path a uniform distance.
Snow hampered our progress on more than one occasion.

Unfortunately, vandals pulled out some edging one week-end before the "crusher-fines" were delivered.
"Crusher fines," a type of gravel that defines the pathway, was delivered in several dump truck loads.
Since most students who worked on the Walk Through Time were too young to drive, adults helped with rock transportation and delivery.
Students needed the help of an adult with a front loader to nudge some rocks into place.
Students installed ground markers for each time period.
