Centaurus High School Athletic Philosophy

  • Centaurus High School seeks to provide a broad and varied program of interscholastic athletics that will meet the needs and interests of students.

  • Athletic participation at Centaurus serves as an integral part of a student's educational experience. It is our belief that through athletics students are provided the potential for becoming better persons and citizens.

  • Participation in athletics is a privilege which carries with it responsibilities to the school, to the team, to the student body, to the community and to the athletes themselves. In play and in conduct, students in athletics represent all of these groups. Therefore, students are encouraged and motivated to want to win and to excel within the principles of good sportsmanship and fair play.

Additional Information

  • The athletic program is administered under the guidelines and jurisdiction of the Colorado High School Athletic Association.

  • Centaurus competes in the Metro Football Conference and in the Skyline League for all other sports. Whereas Centaurus charges admission for regular season football, wrestling, and JV and varsity volleyball and basketball, please be aware that numerous schools in the Skyline League charge admission for those and other sports as well. Because other schools in our League rely on gate receipts to fund a good portion of their sports budget, you may encounter an admission charge when you attend soccer, softball, baseball, swimming or track events at an opponent’s school.

  • League admission charges this year are $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens age 55 and older, $4 for students in grades K- 12, with pre-school children admitted free of charge.

Remember that you represent Centaurus when you attend any sporting event. Treat school gate workers with respect, show good sportsmanship, and enjoy watching our outstanding athletes!
