The Emerging Monarch Butterfly

By Jake C.

Did you know that when the butterfly emerges it can't just fly immediately? It must let blood pump into its wings for at least an hour. Its first flight is only from flower to flower sipping nectar. It flies during the day and rests during the night. Did you know that when the butterfly is fully grown it still carries some of the milkweed it ate when it was a caterpillar? WOW!

I got my information from THE MONARCH BUTTERFLY.
