Did you know that Prehistoric butterflies are thought to have looked much like the Swallowtail Butterflies of today? The ancient Egyptians believed that in the after-world the dead could still hunt birds and see butterflies by the bank of the Nile River. Scientists believe that butterflies have existed in their present form for 50 million years. Butterflies and moths are the second largest group of insects. Only beetles are a larger group.
