Byron White (1917-2002)

Byron Raymond White was born June 8, 1917 in Fort Collins, Colorado. There were six kids in his senior class at Wellington High School. He went to the University of Colorado. He was really smart in school and he was really good at sports. He played baseball, basketball and football. He was a very good football player for the University of Colorado. In his senior he completed 21 passes, scored 16 touchdowns, and kicked 23 extra points in football. He was on the All-American team and graduated in 1938.

White played professional football and then went to law school. President John Kennedy made him a justice. He served 31 years as a Justice of the US Supreme Court. There is a courthouse in Denver named after him. He retired from the Supreme Court in 1993.

He was married and had two children and six grandchildren. He died on April 15, 2002.
