Why have Physical Education?
Physical
Education at Coal Creek Elementary is an important part of
each child's total education. Physical Education is more than
recess, more than a time to play, it's a time for learning.
Our first aim is to help students improve their motor skill
development. Motor skills are critical life skills that enable
us to go about our daily lives effectively and safely. In
addition to helping students become more skillful movers,
we attempt to help them feel good about themselves as movers
so they can feel comfortable participating in new and different
activities. We try to help students experience success in
physical education so that they will enjoy and participate
in physical activity both at school and at home. If we give
students a good foundation of skill development, cognitive
understanding, and positive attitudes towards themselves in
physical activity, they will be well on their way to becoming
adults who enjoy the benefits of physically active and healthy
lifestyles.
Suggestions that will
help promote and increase safe participation in physical
education classes.
- Please remind all students to wear tennis
shoes (no sandals, jellies, thongs, dress shoes, or boots)
and comfortable clothing on physical education days.
- If students cannot participate due to illness
or injury, please send a note.
- Show an interest in your students activities
in physical education. Ask them to keep you informed about
what they are working on and learning, and encourage them
to practice at home or at recess.
Parents, please feel free at any time to observe
your student during physical education.
