Moose by Tina, age 9

You are camping out in the woods in the mountains of northern Colorado. You see some rustling in the bushes. You look up and see an animal about 6 feet tall. It has long brown legs. It's eating off a tree. You can see its teeth. It only has bottom front teeth. It doesn't have a very long neck. You wonder what it is. Well, you're in luck. It's a moose.

Did you know that a male moose is called a bull? The bull teaches the calf how to swim. Moose eat plants growing in marshes, lakes, clearings and in the woods. Did you know moose eat plants in the summer and tree bark in the winter? Since moose have long legs, they often eat twigs and leaves off trees. They weigh about 1,000 pounds

I got my information from THE WONDER OF MOOSE by Rita Richie and Jeff Fair.
