The Wild Adventure of the Gray Wolf by Hannah, age 8

If you see a gray, black, big dog coming out of the trees of the mountains of Colorado it may be a gray wolf. Does it have pointy ears? Is it 4 to 6 feet including its tail? Well, if so, it is probably a gray wolf. The gray wolf lives in a den. A den is a cave that is in a big rock. Baby wolves are called pups, they cannot see or hear when they are born. They are black and gray in the summer and in the winter they are white and gray. The wolf likes cold weather but will not live at the top of the mountains. The pack will growl at a wolf that does not belong. They eat moose, mice, and marmots. The gray wolf has to be careful of man.

I got my information from THE WONDER OF WOLVES by Patricia Lantier Samsan.
