Welcome to the world of Kindergarten! It is a time of excitement, curiosity, energy beyond belief, quick sorrows and much laughter. This first important year of school is a great adventure away from home for children, and is very important to later achievement in school.
The Heatherwood Kindergarten program is designed to help stimulate a good self-concept, providing each child with many challenges and a variety of experiences. Children will work and create independently and learn to cooperate with others in a group. We strive to provide opportunities for social and emotional development inspire language development and expand physical and mental growth. The following is a brief description of some of the activities covered in the Kindergarten program.
Kindergarten Care, a supplemental fee-based, licensed, on-site half-day care provided by BVSD for kindergarten-age children, is also available.
Kindergarten at Heatherwood includes Art, Physical Education, Math, and Music. Of course students learn to read and write, and go to the library to hear stories and check out books. Students also learn something about the world around us through the year with topics changing through time. And every week we can share things with our class. You can get an idea of the daily schedule in Kindergarten by looking at the following pages on the Heatherwood website.
