Library

Kindergarteners will visit the library once per week. Your child will be able to check out two books at a time. During the beginning of the year, we will learn about taking care of books and checking out the returning of those books.

Homework

Homework will be coming home weekly. Kindergarten homework is a simple reinforcement of concepts learned in class.

Friday Folders

A folder will be sent home every Friday. It will contain our newsletters, notes from the office and your child's weekly work.

Buddies

One of the most special times during the week is when kindergarteners have their upper-pod “buddies” come to the classroom to work on a special project. Each kindergartener is assigned a upper-pod student as their buddy for the year. The buddy program helps kindergarteners feel more connected to the older students in the school. Many times a very special bond forms between “buddies”.

Recess

  • Kindergarteners go outside for recess almost every day, so please dress your child appropriately for the changing Colorado weather.
  • The teachers go outside with the children and no one will be in the room to supervise students.
  • It is our policy that all students participate in outside recess for that reason.

Kindergarten Playground

  • There is a “kindergarten only” playground that is separate from the first through fifth grade playground. This is a special area designated only for kindergarteners.
  • The kindergarten playground equipment is more age-appropriate for kindergarteners than the older student’s playground.

Snack

  • We have snack time during our day usually at recess
  • Please send a small, easy to eat, healthy snack for your child.
