UNGRADED PRIMARY

Cathy hails originally from Arkansas, where she worked as a social worker in a dialysis unit after earning a Masters in Social Work.  She then worked as a clay artist and art teacher at the Arkansas Art Center and for the Artist in Education Program in Little Rock.  Cathy moved to England for two years where she was able to travel to Greece and Africa and study a little wood carving, lace making, and stone circles.  In 1989 she moved to Boulder where she had her two children, Emma and Gus.  They are credited with helping her find teaching through being a mom, then avid classroom volunteer!  In 2002, Cathy decided to return to school at the University of Denver and earn her education certificate and masters.  She joined Heatherwood in 2003 after having done her student teaching and initial teaching in the third and second grade at Whittier Elementary.   She has taught first, ungraded primary and now third.

Her children are 15 and 17 and attend New Vista High School.  She loves to spend time with them, ski, garden, fix her house(she put in her own wood floors!) and continue taking classes in anything.  She loves her family, her job, loves learning, and feels extremely fortunate to have found a home at Heatherwood and its caring community.
