Communication With Parents
Communication with parents occurs through our Husky Highlights newsletter, classroom newsletters,
organized classroom phone trees,
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO),
School Improvement Team (SIT),
and the Heatherwood Parents mailing list (e-mail).
Community - School Involvement
Heatherwood thrives on the close working relationship of
its community, parents and staff. For example, the Heatherwood
Media Center - Library
serves both the school and the community all year, even in the summer.
Parents collaborate with staff on committees in our
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and
School Improvement Team (SIT).
Our volunteers include both parents and other members of the community.
The generosity of our volunteers is very much appreciated. Their
work allows many programs to go forward and permits our teachers
to spend more individualized instruction time with students.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers contribute over 3700 hours each year to classroom
assistance at the school and additional time working outside the
classroom. Activities include computer support, working with
student groups, library support, health room, classroom support
at home, committees, office support, grant writing assistance,
fundraising, newsletters, and helping with special events and
activities. To volunteer, call 303-530-1234.
