Dear Heatherwood Parents, Welcome to the 2000-2001 school year at Heatherwood. As the parent cochair of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), I need each and every one of you to help make a difference at Heatherwood. Two of our goals this year will be to involve more parents and to communicate more effectively. One of the primary ways PTO enriches the environment at Heatherwood is through parent volunteers and fundraising contributions. Last year the PTO funded over $60,000 worth of projects and hundreds of hours of volunteers! Many of these projects are tangible (the kindergarten playground and the ball wall) and yet others transpire quietly (Heatherwood Handbooks, a copier for the office, room moms, etc.). We welcome all volunteers (including males) and I personally encourage you to get involved. Please let us hear from you either through the volunteer signup form or by calling Odette Trellinger (volunteer coordinator) to find out where you can help. Many of us have made wonderful friendships from our time spent on school projects. We have jobs that take 10 minutes or projects that we work on for months. Take a look at the PTO Committees page and you will see that there is a plethora of volunteer opportunities. We can use help in just about every category. Your time and effort will make a difference.
