Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills
Results for Heatherwood Elementary School
The following are Heatherwood Elementary School 5th Grade scores on the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS) TerraNova for 1997 - 2000. The corresponding scores for the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) are included for comparison. Scores are reported in three areas: Reading, Language, and Math. Caution: It is
difficult to identify trends with this data due to the difference among classes being
assessed each year and the "one point in time" assessment format.
Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS) is a nationally standardized achievement test.
The test reports how students perform in relation to a national sample. The "actual" score
(median) represents how students performed as compared with all students in the
national sample. Therefore, a score of 70 indicates that the average student in the
school or district performed better than 70 percent of the students in the national
sample. The "anticipated" score (median) represents the performance of students from
across the nation of similar academic aptitude to students in the school or district.
