We are fortunate to have a great bunch of teachers here at Jamestown Elementary.

From Left to Right: Ines Rutkovskis, Beth Brotherton, Dodi Jackson, and Laura Williams.

Ines Rutkovskis the primary teacher at Jamestown.

Ines has a B.A. from Prescott College, Arizona in Environmental Education.  She earned an M.A. from Antioch New England graduate school in New Hampshire in Education and Integrated Learning.

Personal stuff...

"I enjoy being in the outdoors as much as I can: biking, skiing, rock/mountain climbing, hiking, swimming or just going for walks.  I got hooked with  teaching when I was a Park Ranger Naturalist in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming and a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador.   I enjoy sharing my love for the natural world with my students by engaging them in fun activities so they develop awareness, appreciation, respect and connection to the environment they live in.  I also love good movies, a good book, speaking Spanish with folks (as rusty as mine is), music, salsa dancing and traveling to learn about different cultures.

"I love the small community feeling of Jamestown.  I believe in multi-age classrooms where students help one another solve real problems and make friends across the age levels. The students really take care of each other. My interest as a teacher is to be like a bridge for each student. With support, love and guidance and using fun experiential activities, children are challenged to explore the world around them and develop confidence and love for life-long learning. I believe every student has some kind of "genius" waiting to unfold!  I seek to create a safe and warm learning environment where children feel they can unfold and strengthen their talents. These children have a great sense of community already; I aim to deepen that connection with their community and the natural environment, to help them become active world citizens."

Beth Brotherton is school secretary, the Healthroom Para, the Classroom Para and our excellent art teacher.

Beth was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to a large family of 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Beth attended the University of Cincinnati and earned a degree in Social Work.  She has worked in the graphic arts field for 25 years

Beth has been married for 25 years to Michael, a designer, woodworker and business owner.  She moved to Jamestown in 1986, and served on the Jamestown town board for 8 years.  Beth is a mother of two teens, Erin 18, Jacob 15, both of whom attended and thrived at Jamestown Elementary.

Beth started teaching art at Jamestown in 1999 as a volunteer when the District couldn't fund an art teacher.  She began as a fulltime ParaPro in 2004.

"Every child is an artist until an adult tells them they are not!"

Laura Williams is the director of our fantastic after-school program, Camp Jimtown.

Laura has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut in Human Development and Family Relations.  For over 10 years, she has worked with children of all ages in many different settings, including Counselor at Devereux-Glenholme School in Connecticut for emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children.   Other positions include:  Director, Shining Mountain Waldorf Aftercare (Boulder, CO); Camp Director, Camp Peggy Lake (Alaska); and Director of various after-school child care programs and camps throughout the YMCA of Boulder Valley.

Laura joined the Jamestown Elementary team in 1999 by directing a YMCA program and began her own Camp Jimtown adventure at that location in 2002.

Dodi Jackson is our awesome, talented special educator. Dodi works one-on-one with a student and with small groups to strengthen their literacy skills. She also shares with us her many fun artistic talents and ideas such as creating personal collages and dance movement. Dodi is a gem to have at Jamestown Elementary!
