August Assessment Schedule, August 13th and 14th
Your child's assessment appointment was sent home in their report card
envelope at the end of the school year. Assessments will take place on
either August 13th or August 14th in 45 minute timeslots between 8:00am -
3:00pm. A reminder postcard will be sent home around August 4th.
Please mark your calendar with this very important date!
Meet the Teacher Event, Monday, August 18th from
3:30 - 5:00pm
Class lists will be posted at 9:00am on August 18th. That
afternoon, from 3:30pm - 5:00pm, teachers will be on hand to meet their new
students in the classrooms. Come and meet your new teacher and drop
off your school supplies!
First Day of School, Tuesday, August 19th
August 19 - Kindergarten A-G Only
August 20 - Kindergarten H-Z Only
August 21 - All Kindergarten Students Attend
August 26 - Preschool Begins
Summer Kindergarten Play Dates
During the summer, the PTA is organizing several play dates for incoming
kindergarteners. This is a chance for your kindergartener to meet other
classmates so that s/he will feel more comfortable and recognize some
friendly faces on the first day of school. It is also an opportunity to meet
some of the other families at Lafayette Elementary School in order to learn
more about school life. These are PTA organized optional play dates.
Attendance is not required. The play dates are at Waneka Lake Park. The
schedule is Wednesday, July 23rd at 5:00 pm, Friday, July 25th
at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 30th at 5:00 pm, and Friday, August 1st
at 10:00 am.
Congratulations Destination ImagiNation!
Students from Lafayette Elementary have been doing something right! They
have learned how to work as a team, write a script, build props and put on a
skit that wowed the judges at the State Destination ImagiNation Competition
in Denver in April. All the long hours of hard work paid off for them as
they headed to the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals May 20-24 in
Knoxville, TN. The seven-member team, HAIRlarious, tied for 20th place out
of 80 teams in their division. It was a wonderful learning experience for
the entire team.
