Instructional Strategies That Work

Included here are materials designed as a result of our work with Classroom Instruction That Works: Research-Based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement by Robert J. Marzano, Debra J. Pickering & Jane E. Pollock. These materials have been created by teachers at Manhattan.

  • Overview Activity - this activity is designed to give people an overview of the contents of the book. File is in Microsoft Word.
  • Comparing Matrix - a comparison matrix for use by students by Tim Downing (in Word)
  • Comparison Matrix - this is the exact same one that is in the book (in Word) submitted by Cheryl Curtin.
  • Effort Rubric by Constance Archer (in Word)

Backward Design Materials

Teachers: below are the materials supplied to us for Backward Design. If you click on one of the Word documents, the document will be downloaded to your computer. If it doesn't open in Word, open Word yourself and then open the document (FIILE > Open). If you are not sure which document you want, look at the HTML version first. You cannot type into the HTML version. You have to download the Word version if you want to be able to type into the document.
