World Languages

French and Spanish give students the opportunity to learn the basic structure, speech pattern, sound system, and cultural background of the language they choose to study. Students participate in dialogue, short personalized conversations, readings, and cultural games and songs. Immersion experiences through guest artist visits and field trips offer students the chance to practice their new foreign language skills. Both beginning and intermediate levels of French and Spanish are offered. Art in all of its diverse forms is incorporated into foreign language teaching. Middle school is the ideal setting for starting a foreign language as it is easier to acquire and develop the necessary skills to create a strong foundation before continuing on to high school.
