Period Zero

On Wednesday mornings during the school year, Manhattan teachers participate in on-going teacher development focused on improving teaching strategies, meeting the needs of all students, and coordinating the work done across the school.  As a result, students do not start school until 9:55 a.m.  (entry bell at 9:50 a.m.).  In collaboration with the YMCA of Boulder Valley, Manhattan offers Period Zero during which students can participate in a variety of activities including indoor soccer, art, karaoke, basketball, skateboarding, board games and service learning opportunities.  Students can attend every Wednesday or on a drop-in basis - the program is free thanks to the YMCA Middle School and Teen Programs. Students MUST have a parent-signed permission form to participate.  Forms are available in MMSAA's main office (and will be available here as soon as possible).  Questions can be addressed to anyone in the school's main office.
