Physical Education is taught to all Mesa students: 40 minutes for Kindergartners
and 90 minutes for the 1st through the 5th graders. This is a
sequential curriculum that is based upon the Boulder Valley Physical Education
Standards.
These standards are further enhanced through special programs
offered during class times such as P. E. Helpers, the Mesa Mile/Half Mile
Run, Jump Rope for Heart, 4th & 5th Grade Outdoor Adventure,
and Track & Field Days.
After school opportunities include Student/Parent Dance Night,
Jump Rope Clinics,
and the Mesa Fitness Club and Pasta Pigout.
"Children achieving active healthy lifestyles" is a philosophy that is practiced
in the gym. Keeping children physically active and fit is the overriding emphasis
of Mesa's Physical Education Program. We achieve this goal by offering
a wide variety of individual and team activities designed to pique each child's interests
during the school year. The final focus is on safe, responsible behavior that
includes cooperation with others and demonstration of good sportsmanship at all times.
We are a caring and supportive community of learners. |
