Welcome to first grade!

Mrs. May's Classroom

In first grade we spend most of our time learning to read and write. However, we also learn lots of important math skills, do exciting science experiments, and learn about many different cultures all around the world! Some daily activities we do in first grade are read aloud, math stations, and Social Studies or Science. We also have Team Talks, like our middle school ICARE. Some places we study are Japan and Mexico. We also study the human body systems and Balance and Motion. When we finish with our study of Mexico we will have a fiesta. Ole! Some other exciting field trips are going to a Japanese restaurant called Sushi Zanmai, Avista Hospital, and we go to the Circus.
