DESKTOP PUBLISHING

Welcome to Desktop Publishing Corporation (DPC). This newly designed course will take students through ‘mock’ business adventures creating documents, flyers, stationary and calendars for our ‘clients’. Students will explore software such as clip art, word art, textbox, auto shapes, and text wrap applications. We will be utilizing the scanner to import pictures and documents. Students will also enjoy creating power point presentations to ‘sell’ their ideas to clients. Lastly, students will experience the different styles of journalism by creating the Monarch Mustangs Student Newsletter.

MICROCOMPUTING

This course will provide a basic introduction to a wide range of computer applications. The first half of this course will include work in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Power Point and graphics. The second half of this course will include establishing an email account, web requests, research the WWW designing and building a personal home page on the World Wide Web using HTML, digital video editing, claymation, and CD burning. Advanced students may make their own animated gifs for display on their page. The majority of assignments are project based to keep the students motivated. Grading is largely based on effort to accommodate the wide range of computer skills in the classes. In this way a novice computer user is not competing directly with an advanced student.
