WORLD LANGUAGE
All language courses are full year courses.
Our students need knowledge and skills to be ready to compete in a global economy.
The study of a world language has been recognized as essential to succeed in
communications, language arts and in the area of negotiations and trade. High
priority is also placed on world languages because of our diverse cultural heritage.
Not only is proficiency in a world language a component of preparation for college,
it reinforces language arts skills. Study of French or Spanish may begin in
grades 6,7, or 9. Level 1A and 1B at the middle school (which are adapted to
the middle school student) are equivalent to Level 1 in high school. College
preparatory students are advised to take a minimum of 3 levels in the same world
language.
FRENCH 1A, SPANISH 1A For students who are in sixth or seventh grade. excellent
language skills and the recommendation of their fifth grade teacher.)
FRENCH 1B, SPANISH 1B For students who have successfully completed level 1A
FRENCH 2, SPANISH 2 For students who have successfully completed level 1B
