Chess Club
The Angevine Chess Club offers students an exciting opportunity to have fun and compete with fellow classmates, and against other schools in an activity that challenges and engages students. Beginning players learn about the basics of the game and advanced players prepare to compete in the annual chess tournament. We will be meeting in the library on Thursday afternoons from 3:45-4:45 pm. We invite all Bobcats to be a part of this great experience! Parents, if you would like to volunteer your time to come in and theach a strategy or two please let Mr. Romero know. For additional information please contact ricardo.romero@bvsd.org.
The schedule for the Bobcat Chess Club is as follows:
6 December 2012 (re-scheduled from 29 November 2012) – Aspen Creek K-8 (travel to Aspen Creek)
13 December 2012 - Louisville Middle School (Angevine hosts)
10 January 2013 (or 17 January 2013) – Peak-to-Peak Charter School (travel to Peak-to-Peak – may change)
24 January 2013 (or 31 January 2013) – Summit Charter School ( Angevine hosts – may change)
All dates except for the 6th of December are tentative until I talk with the opposing school’s club leader. The parents of all players involved in the matches are contacted by me via phone or e-mail prior to the match date to inform them of the need for field trip forms and match times.
We also change who hosts the matches based upon the ability to get drivers or if we want to get more matches for our team members (visiting schools only bring the minimum four players while we try to bring as many players to matches as I can get drivers for).
