"The National Literacy Project"
This year AMS is proud to be a part of the National Literacy Project.
The goal of the National Literacy Project is to improve the reading and writing success of intermediate, middle, and high school students. NLP offers a wide array of services for educators who work with students in all subject areas and programs.
At our school, we have a literacy team made up of teachers from all content areas. Our plan for literacy success is called the Angevine Literacy Project. The Angevine Literacy Project addresses the needs of at all grade and achievement levels including, students including, TAG, Special Education, and ELLs.
In our kick-off year AMS teachers, students and staff will be utilizing three high leverage literacy strategies designed to encourage and support higher levels of thinking. These three strategies are Learning Logs, Cornell Notes, and the Frayer Vocabulary Model.
