Hello, Hola, Bonjour! My name is Carmen Douglas and I am very excited to work at Angevine again.  I am the new Spanish and French teacher, although I am not completely new.  I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with my degrees in Spanish Literature & Language, Education, and a minor in French.  Spanish is my first language, and then I learned English and French.  I was born and raised in Spain and have also lived in South Korea, Germany, the United States, and France.  I used to work at Angevine from 2004-2006, after that I took a position at Boulder High School from 2006-2011.  I have taught several levels of Spanish and even taught English while living in France.  I am very passionate about working with kids and creating a safe and healthy learning environment where they are eager to learn.  I believe that learning is the central activity in the classroom.  I am looking forward to a great experience at AMS!  Go Bobcats!

Just a few things you need for my class:
  • a divider in your school binder for our class
  • loose-leaf paper, preferably college-ruled, but if you already bought wide-ruled that's fine
  • blue and black pens, pencils, red pen, highlighter
  • a positive attitude!

Optional Items:

  • If you are going to take Spanish or French for awhile, it might be a good idea to get a Spanish/English or French/English dictionary.  LAROUSSE is the brand I prefer, but you have to make sure you get pocket edition and NOT pocket-sized.  I believe they run about $6.95 new and you can also buy them used online.
  • white out
  • duct tape or packing tape for workbook cover, as our workbooks are rather flimsy and tend to damage easily
