Kindergarten Teachers and Staff

Kristen Elder-Rubino

I have been teaching Kindergarten at Columbine Elementary for 13 years. My background and experience is focused on early childhood education. Prior to coming to Columbine I taught pre-school/pre-k in Boulder for 10 years. My passion is teaching, exploring, observing and learning with my students. I recently completed my ESL endorsement and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Literacy, Language and Culture. When I am not at school, I spend my free time with my daughter. We like to read books, watch movies, and hang out with our friends at Moe's and Vic's. I love being a part of the Columbine community and I know you and your children will too!    

Susy Mosqueda       

I am from Guanajuato Mexico and have been in the states for 15 years.  I have experience working with kids from kindergarten to sixth grade.  I worked at Angevine Middle School in Lafayette ifor the 1998-99 school year. I have been working at Columbine for the last 7 1/2 years.  I started as a native language tutor for third grade and then moved on to work with both kinder and second grades.  Subsequently, I worked for three years as a K-Care specialist while pursuing my degree in elementary education.  I'm delighted to join the kindergarten team.

Welcome to Columbine Elementary.  You will love it here because (in the words of our school song), "we're the best in the Rockies they all say.  We're the place where kids are number one, the place where learning is fun.  Every child (and staff member) is smart and they all do their part" to make this school an awesome place to learn.  With quality leadership, a highly educated staff, wonderful students and supportive parents I have found a workplace that challenges me to be the best I can be and to embrace a learning experience that is constantly growing and never stagnate.

Before Columbine, I taught in a K-2 multiage classroom in California for 10 years.  Prior to teaching, I was a grower of alfalfa and grain and a rancher/cowboy(girl) with a 1,000 head of cattle to feed out each winter in the northeast corner of California.  Today my passion is teaching and working for the success of all students here at Columbine.  I recently completed my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Literacy, Language and Culture.  When I am not at school, I enjoy . . . oh . . . wait a minute, I'm always at school-but that's my choice and that's where I want to be.
