I’ve been part of the Columbine teaching community since 2001.  My current position as Columbine’s Spanish as a Second Language (SSL) teacher provides me the unique opportunity to work with students in grades K-5, incorporating my training in second language acquisition with my passion for music, art, and children’s literature. I also work with a Newcomers’ Group of students to help them with basic English skills in the school environment.  When I’m not at Columbine, I’m singing with the Resonance Chorus in Boulder, gardening, taking care of all my animals (including ducks!), reading for my Book Club, or traveling all over the world.

Carrie Evans - Social Worker

Lucky me! I am the school social worker for Columbine 4 days of the week. I landed at Columbine after being a teacher, principal, native language tutor and court jester at many schools in many places over the years. Along the way, I received a Bachelor of Studio Art degree, Masters in Alternative/ Experiential Education and a Masters in Social Work. I just like being in the school environment with all that good productive energy, I guess. I especially like my job at Columbine because it braids my background and interests together for the purpose of helping kids, teachers and families communicate, play fair, and solve problems creatively and with integrity. I can sometimes be seen working with my assistant, Jackson Brownspot, a 14 year old mutt, certified through the Delta Society as a therapy dog. He is gentle and dependable working with children but he will get distracted by your lunch!!
