Do you want your student to be better prepared for 2nd
grade?  Here are some items you can work on over the
summer.                                                                   

READING/WRITING                                                

• Be able to write a complete sentence - start all
  sentences with a capital letter and end with a   
  period.                                                           
• Use a space between words.                             
• Read books to your child and discuss what has   
  been read.                                                      
•  Have your child be able to retell a story after 
  reading a book.                                               
• A link to Performance Targets is listed. Levels  
  for each grade are listed.  The office has a list  
    of guided reading leveled books available for    
  summer reading at levels G through M.              

MATH                                                                       

  The second grade team believes that children are unique and we strive to meet their individual needs.  We address different learning styles and differentiate instruction so that students accelerate at their own pace.  As teaching professionals, we use research-based strategies, materials and best practices when designing the second grade curriculum, which follows the BVSD standards.
