The students and I discussed color theory and the different ways in which color conveys emotion. Students then did an abstract painting, using many color combinations. They then created their exotic birds by cutting up their painting and pasting the pieces!

The Calabash Cat (and other animals)
Students learned about Africa as we read the book "The Calabash Cat!" We then discussed patterns and using variety in our designs. Students created their own Calabash animals and then filled them with patterns. We finished by mounting them on black paper.
