Mesa Parents: BVSD now uses SchoolMessenger for important email and phone messages to parents and staff.
 
SchoolMessenger has a special Contact Manager feature that allows parents to set preferences for how they receive various communications such as attendance calls, general information, and school or district emergency notifications.

Kindergarten Registration for 2013-2014

Families residing in the Mesa neighborhood with children who will be five years old on or before September 30, 2013 are eligible for Kindergarten in the fall of 2013.  By registering their child now, parents and guardians help Mesa to plan for the appropriate number of Kindergarten teachers and classes.

All incoming Kindergarten students enroll online at http://enroll.bvsd.org/.  Following successful online enrollment, parents and guardians will bring to Mesa:

  • A copy of the child's birth certificate or passport
  • Proof of residency (a recent utility bill showing a local service address or a signed rental/lease agreement)
  • The child's current Immunization Record signed by a health care provider
  • The online enrollment receipt, emergency card, and Home Language Survey

Two New Programs Coming to Mesa
 book return
Have you heard of BVSD’s award winning Trip Tracker Program?  It encourages and rewards students for walking, biking, skating, scooting, busing and carpooling to school.  Students receive Trip Tracker Dollars once a month in the cafeteria that they can spend at 20 kid-friendly, locally-owned businesses (think Glacier ice Cream, Gateway Fun Park, Play It Again Sports).  Families that register in the program get a monthly calendar for tracking trips via email and a survey once a month to report trip numbers.  The program is currently running in 12 BVSD schools with over 2000 students registered.  Trip Tracker comes to Mesa Elementary in August!
 
We know that parents of young children aren’t comfortable having them walk or bike by themselves to school and may not have time to walk with them.  The second program addresses this concern and is a wonderful resource for the Mesa community.  It’s the Mesa Family Networking Program, and it provides a map of all participating families and a separate directory with contact information connected to the map by a unique directory code.  This program, which we’ll call the MFNP for short, supports all types of group alternatives to single family car transportation to school.  You will soon be able to create walking, biking and busing groups as well as carpools for getting to and from schools, events and activities.
 
Thanks to BVSD Transportation for creating these great programs to help us reduce the car traffic and associated air pollution around school and to promote student safety and fitness.
