Drama Department
Thespian Society
Students wishing to participate in drama at Monarch can audition for a part in a production, or to take part in the technical aspects of theater (i.e. lighting, sets, sound, costumes and make-up). Anyone can audition, there are no restrictions on grade levels.
There are approximately 100 students in the Thespian Society, 15 - 20% of whom go on to major in Theater in college. Entry to the Thespian Society is based on hours earned through participation in the plays. Once in the Thespian Society, students are eligible to attend the Thespian Conference where they compete in different areas for awards. This competition occurs in early December each year.
Plays
Thespian Society produces three plays a year:
* Fall Play (usually in October)
* Musical (held in April)
* "One-Acts" (held in May): Student chosen/directed mini-plays
