MONARCH INDOOR PERCUSSION 2011-12
Monarch Indoor Percussion (sometimes known as Drumline) is a group of High School Students that participate in this extra-curricular activity from November through April. The students work hard to expand their skills in mallets, drums, and marching percussion. The staff focuses on teaching discipline, teamwork, and leadership throughout the group. This group competes with a show each year in approximately five competitions in the Denver metro area against other area high schools, and then takes their show to the state level. Typically, every other year they head to the World Competitions in Dayton, Ohio. Monarch High offers a year round class, which helps the students perfect their skills in percussion. In the summer and fall, the majority of this group makes up the percussion group for marching band.
The dues are $500/year, and the students help to fundraise additional funds for the group throughout the year. Parent volunteers help by loading/driving the equipment truck to competitions, driving students to competitions, making props for the show, painting the show floor, help move equipment and props on and off the floor during competitions, and help with fundraising efforts.
This group has finished 1st in State during our 2004, 2008, 2010 and 2011 seasons.
