Monarch High School Writing Guide

You probably are using this site because you've just been assigned some kind of paper.  Maybe you don't even know where to begin.  Maybe you have a pretty good idea of what you want to do, but you'd like to get a few more details about how to plan, create, or format your paper.  Either way, you've already made a good decision by coming here to get more information.

This site presents basic steps and resources for writing academic essays and research papers.  It should supplement, but not replace, the assignment information you received from your teacher.  If you have no idea where to begin, you might want to browse through the whole site to get a general overview of what steps you should go through to research and write a paper.  If you only want information in a few areas, click on the page that most closely fits your needs.  Follow the links on each page to find additional or more detailed information.

Email for Help
This site also is linked to the Monarch High School staff email list, so if you need further clarification from your teacher, email them and ask!  Just remember that oddly enough, some teachers don't check their email at 12:30 on a Sunday.

Other Ways to Get Help

  • Go to Monarch High School tutor times -- Wednesday mornings 8:40-9:20
  • Go to the Monarch High School Tutor Center.  It's in the library and you go during your study hall or off-period.
  • Ask a classmate or parent to look at your paper and make sure you got all the details right.
  • Although it sounds crazy, ask your teacher for extra help.
